What a Beautiful Fall in Heber City, UT

I haven’t posted lately because we have just been relaxing in Heber until time to move on.  Each day, the last couple of weeks, the mountain colors have just exploded with the reds, oranges, and yellows!  Such nice views to wake up to and see right from our windows.  The mountains were so pretty that, a couple of days ago, we took a short ride to Provo Canyon and along some of the back roads of Heber to get a closer look.  Ah, so pretty.  We are so glad we stayed as long as we did and were able to experience Fall in the mountains.

Even in the canyon, the colorful foliage seemed to creep all the way to the top of the rocky cliffs.

From the Provo River to the countryside, color was everywhere.  Just so lovely in the sun and against the blue sky.  What a setting!  I especially like the picture of the red barn against the landscape in the 3rd picture.

Even this guy was out enjoying the beautiful weather.  He was in a tree right beside the road and didn’t pay any attention to us as I took his picture.  Nice of him to pose for me! Guess he was more interested in surveying the field beneath the tree for his breakfast!  Always fun to photograph wildlife!

Well, we left today, Tuesday, Oct. 14, and headed for Kanab, UT.  We certainly enjoyed our month long stay in Heber City.  We found enough to keep us busy and discovered more beautiful country.  Heber City is just a nice town.  We even discovered a small ice cream shop that still had my favorite flavor-Huckleberry!  Since it is just a seasonal flavor in the Northwest, I got a couple more scoops before it was all gone.  For a bit of fun, a few weeks ago, we even went to the local high school homecoming football game.  That sure brought back memories!  Of course they got creamed! The quarterback on the visiting team was 6’5” and 250 lbs.  How can you go against something like that!?  It was still a fun evening.   We did take a couple of trips through Provo Canyon to Orem.  It is about 40 miles away and all the shopping we would need was on the north end of town, so it didn’t seem like a very long drive.  As a parting treat, we had a little rain on Sunday but woke up Monday to another dusting of snow on the mountain tops.  We will certainly plan a return visit to Heber City if we are ever near the area again.  We are back in the scrub land and I miss those mountains in the Heber valley already!
