10/10/15 Saturday. It was such another pretty day, that our friends wanted to take me to a nearby park for a short hike. Falcon Park trailhead is East from town and at the base of small treed mountains above rolling hills of the open plains. The road to the trailhead is a dirt/gravel mix and is an area of large horse ranches and huge homes. It is a gorgeous setting with all the horses, fencing, landscaped yards with barns, and open sky.
The trailhead has a pond for fishing and a really nice bathhouse with covered picnic areas. Either side of the pond leads to the main trail with other trails at the top. The trail also has nice vies of the plains in the distance.
We just took the main loop trail, then Ron waited back at the picnic area while Yvonne and I walked the loop again going in the opposite direction. She and I just wanted a little more exercise.
The trail is also popular for horseback riding and we were fortunate to see these pretty horses on the trail. Nice typical western scenery. Funny, a sign at the end of the road says “Please do not leave manure in the parking lot”!
On the way out down the road, we saw this bird in the tree and think it was Falcon. We also saw 2 small snakes, one we almost stepped on the trail and the other on the road.
What a beautiful day! That is until Doug called me with the bad news about the truck!
