Nashville, Tennessee, and a Secret Gem

May 3, Sunday.  It is so nice to head off down the road on a Sunday because there is usually less traffic and you can just stay on the interstate as you zip through the big towns without taking a by-pass around the towns and out of your way.   Our one night stop was at Seven Points Corps of Engineers Campground on J. Percy Priest Lake.  What a secret gem of a campground!  It was nestled in the woods and each site was very long.  We didn’t have a reservation but managed to get a site right on the water.

The campground is just a little southeast of Nashville, the capital of TN.  It is known as a center of the music industry, earning it the nickname "Music City".  It is also home of the Grand Ole Opry music theater, and many a great country singer has graced its stage.  Nope, didn’t see any of my favorite country stars!
Our campground site had such a nice cozy setting with great views of the lake.  The peace and quiet all afternoon was wonderful.  I walked around the campground several times just to enjoy the place. This place is busy and very popular for boating, swimming, and fishing.  It is usually completely full on weekends and when the weekend folks leave, a steady stream of the next group of campers rolls in.  We would have stayed an extra day but a group of young teens and adult couple took the site next to ours late evening and they were too noisy for our liking.  So the serenity was shortened, but at least most of the day was great.

The sun set right across the water from us, so I got some pretty photos.  So pleasant to just sit outside and watch the sun go down right from our site.

From my Girl Scout Days:
Day is done.  Gone the sun.  From the lakes. From the hills.   From the sky.  All is well.  Safely rest.  God is nigh.

  1. We spent a night at that COE also. It is beautiful. However, we didn't have reservations and had to leave after the one night. The rest of the time we were there we were dealing with tornado warnings. Oh joy. Sure hope you're further East and out of the storms.
